A mudra in Sanskrit means “seal,” “gesture” or “mark”. Yoga mudras are gestures often practiced with the hands and fingers. They carry specific goals of channelling your body’s energy flow.
It is known more than 100 mudras that have been developed over the centuries. In India, mudras are a part of all ritual activities and dances, mudras are practiced in tantric rituals. In yoga mudras are used in meditations, in kundalini yoga they help to raise energy levels and activate chakras. Ayurveda uses mudras for healing and general wellbeing.
Mudras can help to restore our energetic balance and the lifeblood. Practicing mudras does not take much time, does not require special premises and it brings a good result!
You can suffer from the lack of energy and lie down all the evenings on a couch, or you can devote a quarter of an hour to practice mudras during a pleasant evening walk. Daily practice will give you strength and energy!
Practice
It is best to practice mudras during meditation or yoga, but if you do not have time for this, you can practice mudras on the way to work in public transport or during a boring conference ????. To strengthen the effect of a mudra visualize a picture where you are in a beautiful place, surrounded by people you want to be with, that you are healthy and full of energy.
Mudras to accumulate energy
Linga mudra (mudra of heat and energy)
Method:
Interlock the fingers of both the hands and keep the thumb of the left hand vertically straight and encircle it with the thumb and the index finger of the right hand.
Features:
It may generate heat in our body. Drink milk with ghee, more water and fruit juices in addition to practicing of this mudra for more benefits.
Pran Mudra (mudra of life force)
Method:
Connect the tips of the thumb, ring finger and little finger, leave the rest straightened.
Features:
Activates the root chakra Muladhara Mudra to accumulate energy
Prithivi mudra
Method:
Join the tip of ring finger with the tip of thumb and apply gentle pressure.
Features:
Prithvi mudra reduces body temperature and strengthens your body.
Hakini mudra
Method:
Join the tips of five fingers on your right hand, with those of the left. Move your gaze upwards, inhale whith your tongue placed against the roof of your mouth, exhale while allowing your tongue to relax.
Features:
Practicing hakini mudra on a regular basis helps to improve concentration and memory, create a sense of calmness, which opens the mind to clearer thinking
